Job Description

The Senior Purchasing Agent (Non-Food) is responsible for achieving optimal arrangements related to purchasing non-food products (disposable packaging, smallwares, uniforms, operational services, etc.).  This position executes the selection, evaluation, and negotiation for PRG non-food items, ensuring that the suppliers selected fit Panda’s culture and philosophy, have the necessary capacity, and provide the items at the best price and highest quality.  This position assists the Director, Purchasing in day-to-day coordination of inventory, production, and product transition and assists with sourcing new product suppliers



  • Executes the company’s non-food purchasing arrangements in support of its business strategy and plan. Identifies suppliers and arranges optimal contracts in terms of pricing, quality, timing, and supply availability over the term of the contract.  Advises senior leadership on the availability of specific products and pricing, pre-qualifying new suppliers and facilities in terms of price, capacity, and quality.  Ensures costs are within budget.
  • Provides input into the three to five year supply chain strategic plan, anticipating business requirements.  The plan includes identifying supplier sources, their purchasing capacity, and any legal/tariff issues. 
  • Identifies new suppliers to support future growth.  Attends supplier and industry conferences to identify potential suppliers, domestic and international and gain industry insights.  Evaluates potential suppliers based on established criteria and visits potential vendors to see the quality and supply of items.  Negotiates with new suppliers over cost and collaborates with logistics to bringing products into distribution.
  • Maintains a strong professional relationship between suppliers and the company.  Communicates with suppliers concerning all aspects of the partnership including PRG philosophy and growth plans and aligns suppliers with Panda to support our growth.  Evaluates the effectiveness and fitness of suppliers to determine our procurement strategy.
  • Manages and supports cross-functional projects with departments such as Product Development, Legal, Finance, and Operations Improvement on the design or enhancement of smallwares and with Marketing on new or modified packaging, including promotions-related graphics.  Interacts with Operations on testing item enhancements and new suppliers to achieve cost savings.
  • Arranges for global sourcing of non-food for both domestic and international stores.  Oversees non-food procurement for international expansion, including company-owned, franchise, and licensed stores.  
  • Works with Building Operations to provide any non-food items needed at Support Center.  Supports company special events by providing all needed non-food supplies
  • Resolves all quality issues related to non-food items, working with store Operations to identify the issues and determine their cause and with suppliers to correct the problem.
  • Tracks commodities markets on prices and supply and communicates findings to senior leadership.  Recommends best timing to introduce and promote new packaging and non-food products.


  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience; CPSM certification preferred
  • Minimum five years of experience in Supply Chain Management, preferably in a multi-unit food service and/or manufacturing organization
  • Successful completion of annual store training
